April - 2013   Durability of Slimfold Bifold Doors

“Good evening.  We have purchased a home
that has the Slimfold bifold metal closet doors, Model “E”.  I love
those doors.  The house was formerly owned by HEAVY smokers.  Yuk!
 As you can imagine, they were coated with tar. Ugly!  But I sprayed
them with oil eater,and they look brand new again.  Ok, so my dilemma is,
I am missing 2 of the adjustable rods that fit into the tracks.  Can I
still get those?  I have 2 more doors to install. Thanks for any info you
can give me.”

October, 2009 – Slimfold Doors.

On October 8, 2009 Dunbarton’s Customer Service was contacted by a homeowner to replace a pivot rod in the bottom of his Slimfold door. The homeowner emailed a photo of the label on the back of the door to verify the brand. The date on the label was 1973. The Slimfold doors in their home have been in service for 36 years! May, 2009 – Slimfold Doors.

 

I believe I spoke with Jeremy through the Customer Service number, this morning. My name is Jake Sovia, from Pottstown, Pennsylvania and I called to talk about a replacement handle for my Slimfold closet doors. Briefly – My mirrored bifold closet doors that are dated 2-88, have been in constant, non-stop use for our Master Bedroom Closet for almost twenty years, and they continue to work perfectly. In fact, since installation, they’re never even had to be adjusted. They just keep on working and looking brand new – great product. Anyway, I called this morning to get a replacement handle, because we did manage to break one … its part number #25253036 – chrome. Your friendly representative suggested that I send out this email and that he’d send out a new handle in the mail.

So that’s my story. In a home that we bought new and have lived in for close to twenty years … and in a home where virtually everything has been replaced, at least once, from roof to rugs and all things in between, our Slimfold doors simply keep on working perfectly.

Rediframe Door Frames and Slimfold Doors.

When I started the pre-design (hotel property), one mission was to find the right products for this hotel. After looking at many products, I decided on using Rediframe Fixed Frame pre-finished doorframes and Colonial casing. I also chose Dunbarton’s Series 4050 Steel Framed Sliding Mirror doors and the Series 4400 Steel Framed Bifold Mirrored doors. During the construction phase, the contractor left the frames and casing off, until all the cabinetry was installed, and the walls painted. Just before the carpet was installed in the rooms and corridor, the contractor installed the doorframes and casing, saving them from being scratched or damaged, before the opening.
